Children form an idea of what is normal at this age, so teaching them to focus too much on looks can hurt them badly when they grow up. Appearance is not a trait that you should teach your child its value. They will have enough self-doubt and appearance concerns to deal with as they grow up, because that’s just a factor in our culture, so teach them to define themselves in other ways.
