Thank for the A2A. My favorite Bette Davis character is Jane in “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?” because Davis fought the producers to allow her to look monstrous onscreen. She didn’t have to, of course. She could have fought instead to maintain a glamorous appearance onscreen as did her costar, Joan Crawford. Everyone thought Davis was crazy to appear onscreen with hideous makeup, and obvious wig, and costumes that made her body appear lumpy and sagging.
