Bob Uecker was far from a great baseball player, but after he retired from the majors he turned out to be a great comedian and actor! Johnny Carson loved Uecker, who appeared on the Tonight Show over a hundred times. TV audiences loved him and Uecker became the star of Miller Light ads that are among the most popular ads of all time. Uecker even became a movie star, appearing in Fatal Instinct and Major League, and he also played George Owens on the Mr. Belvedere TV show for six seasons. Uecker was much more successful after his MLB career was over than he was when he was playing. Today Uecker is in the Baseball Hall of Fame — not as a player, but as an announcer and baseball wit.
