Even when they were used the concentration was much less than the exposure from food sources, Mercury still prevalent in some seafood. Possible aluminum in food from cookware and aluminum foil use, antiperspirants, and so on. Much more exposure than than that in vaccines. For years we had topical antibacterial/antiseptics such as merthiolate(one of the ones used as a preserative in injectables)and mercurochrome.
