La Luz Nov 7 2024 The Great American Music Hall San Francisco CA shirt

The 1980s preppy styles, in fashion when I was in high school, were some of the La Luz Nov 7 2024 The Great American Music Hall San Francisco CA shirt moreover I love this ugliest clothes ever to be worn by young people. I have taken the liberty of downloading some photos from our 30 year class reunion Facebook page so you can see the horror for yourself. These are all from school dances, when everyone was looking their best, or what they thought looked best at the time. Now, please note that this was a large liberal, suburban, affluent school located a few miles from downtown Seattle. The Nordstroms (of the department store) went to our school. Billionaire Nick Hanauer’s son, the owner of the Seattle Sounders FC soccer team, graduated in the class above me.

We didn’t have dress codes, a preponderance of religion, or abstinence-only education. Many kids could shop anywhere they chose, and had lots of great stores, like Nordstrom, to choose from. But we chose these frumpy styles for ourselves. Can you imagine high school students wearing these styles now? My theory about why these styles were fashionable had to do with the La Luz Nov 7 2024 The Great American Music Hall San Francisco CA shirt moreover I love this AIDS crisis. In the mid-80s, people were scared shitless. Nobody was sure how easily it was transmitted, all we knew was that you got it from casual sex and that it caused a swift, painful, shameful death. People in their teens and 20s — who should have really been showing off their gorgeous young bodies and enjoying their strong sex drives — unconsciously chose to cover up. These classic styles and all-natural fabrics (100% cotton and linen doesn’t lend itself to body-conscious cuts) came back in a big way, especially in women’s fashion, as you can see. It’s no coincidence that they’re now associated with sex-negative subcultures.. Ok, Mercer Island being a bastion of class-conscious rich folks, we probably embraced the preppy look more than others. And we did have our share of goths, rockers, stoners and others. But the photos above were primarily popular people, the good-looking kids, wearing the mainstream styles of the day.
