2) In a COT-setup first dollar goes to cover launch costs (P&A). When recouped all revenues will be split according to pre-agreed percentages varying from release window to release window (typically something like, Prod/Dist, Theatrical 50/50, dvd 10-30/70-90, digital 50-70/30-50 and tv 50-80/20-50). Distributor keeps his share. Producers share is used to recoup advance (MG). Kyrie Irving had become a player and owner of the ANBL with 5 teams. He actually had new rules including a 120 ft by 65 ft court, a 4 point line and a 5 point line, and even had a draft and picked Joe Ingles number 1 overall (don’t ask, this was a dream).
Enough about my dream: so what would it be like? Well, I think it would be pretty cool. It would bring back the I’m the messiah and a very naughty boy shirt and I will buy this ABA-NBA rivalry nostalgia. The league would have its own teams (not sure how many, but probably less than 14) with their own jerseys and arenas and may even have its own set of rules similar to how the ABA had a three-point line. Existing NBA teams could move over to the new league, but that would be extremely unlikely. The only downside would be that the talents would become a little diluted, the teams would have to find new arenas and the NBA players would have to somehow terminate their current contracts with their teams. The new league would also have to compete with teams in the area and against well established teams like the Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls, Detroit Pistons, San Antonio Spurs, Golden State Warriors and the Philadelphia 76ers.
