But once Barbie and Ken go to the real world they find out that the world is Patriarchial. Ken has an instant boost of confidence and energy knowing that he is not worthless. So Ken goes back while Barbie stays back for a while running from Mattel’s people who are trying to capture Barbie and send her back to Barbieland because it is catastrophic for Barbies to get out of Barbieland (allegedly created by Mattel). Barbie escapes from Mattel’s security team and is rescued by the teenage girl’s mother (the teen who we see in the movie where Barbie meets: Once Barbie and the woman meet, Barbie realises that the problems she is having (thoughts of death, cellulite on her skin and depressing mood etc) is actually because of the mother who is missing her daughter after she became a teenager and stopped hanging out with her mother. So the mother is having these thoughts which are affecting Barbie as well. So once this realisation occurs, the mother asks Barbie to take her to Barbieland because it was her dream too. Together they go to Barbieland and are shocked to see that the Kens have taken over Barbieland and have now made it Patriarchial. They also show how neglected the Kens have felt in Barbieland and this was how they were taking revenge for all that time spent being sidelined and thrown out, just like the women of the real world unfortunately.
