Its main weakness is that it is disjoint and a divided force. The BJP leaders are known to take potshots at each other and the party has its own share of motormouths who will hamper the party’s chances. The BJP’s most dangerous opponent is not the Congress or the JDS. Its most dangerous opponent is the BJP itself! Kaveri belt region, typically Mandya-Mysuru regions are the BJP’s achillies heel. To make matters worse, here the JDS is strong as well and has every chance of sweeping the whole belt. This region will see a three way fight rather than a two way fight as will be the case in other parts of Karnataka. So, the BJP is the weakest in this region. There is no doubt about that. This is a known Congress-JDS bastion.

This is one more weakness that might hamper the BJP’s chances. It has failed in these four years to expose the state government. This apathetic attitude will certainly hurt the BJP and if any kind of complacency creeps in, it will be game over for the BJP because make no mistake, this is not an election which will be a cakewalk for the party. It will be an extremely closely fought, bitter election. The Congress will go all out in order to ensure that it retains the BJP. It won’t be easy for the BJP to win.
