But even Fivethirtyeight, which is named after the total number of electors in the U.S. Electoral College, doesn’t report on politics exclusively; it has a fair amount of sports content.

What defines a major event is a matter of personal opinion. Each outlet makes editorial decisions on what to report based on what they believe their audience wants. Following just one outlet gives you a very limited view of what is actually happening.
