Coco played well but it involved Osaka dropping her normal level quite a lot. Coco just kept her end tight and let Osaka dismantle herself. This is by no means a demerit to Coco, what she did at 15 years old is astounding and keeping her head cool is a win in itself. Osaka was going through a patch where she hasn’t been able to make her shots even in the previous matches. Coco is going through a lot of emotions and playing majorly on emotions which is aligned towards playing her best. Currently the discipline instilled in her is reaping rewards but it could be a small emotional breakdown away for Coco. Given the brutally tough draw for Coco she is showing the fighter she is by taking out Venus and now Osaka and its only the 4th round so her fitness will come into question soon but she can easily go all the way if she can make it to the QF past a potentially hot Wang, then potentially Barty or Kvitova in SF and a possibly Halep or Pliskova in finals or there are more upsets and all the remaining top seeds are taken out. She has the game to play deep but not necessarily the consistency so when her game fails what she does will determine her fate.
