Seattle Mariners. Now, like much of American society, mediocre teams, even teams with losing records, advance to the “post-season.” I am waiting for the day when Commissioner’s Office bestows Participation Trophies to the teams that get eliminated. It’s supposed to be exciting and generate interest in the cities that have teams in the playoffs. Ask yourself how many people (in the US) are “excited” over the baseball playoffs. Not all that many, I’ll bet; just the shrieking, shrill, never-shut-up TV announcers calling the games.
