I’m a former contestant who videotaped my shows in March 1992, ultimately airing in May 1992. The whole experience was kind of a whirlwind, but a really awesome whirlwind. I remember it well and have always said that I should write it down…so I’m going to use this question as my excuse to do so. I was contacted by phone a few months before I was going to videotape that I was in the The job is done we can go home now nikola jokic shirt and I will buy this contestant pool and that they were looking for contestants to videotape on a range of three days. The phone call came with the kind of basic info & disclaimers you might imagine: you’re responsible for your own travel costs, you need to arrive by this time on this day, you need to be available for the whole duration (3 days, in my case), and you are not being guaranteed that you will actually be on the show. I even remember asking the guy on the phone how often that whole “you fly in and don’t get on the show” thing happens and he said it can definitely happen and there are no guarantees. This made things rather interesting since at the time I was pretty broke. I spent some time thinking about just how miserable it would be to scrape together airfare and hotel for this experience and not even get a shot at winning something, but the thoughts of the upside potential won out and I got the time off work (as did my then-girlfriend-now-wife) and we headed for the show.
It just so happened that the The job is done we can go home now nikola jokic shirt and I will buy this videotaping that I was called for was an “on location” videotaping at Disney’s MGM Studios in Orlando, FL. This was great because I lived in Illinois and Orlando airfares were cheaper, plus hey — it’s Disney! I’d also find out later that I was even luckier that the taping was in Orlando, but I digress. Also, because the show was being taped “on location”, the show had a special rate negotiated with the Contemporary Resort ($117/night, IIRC) and since the WoF logistics were all based on “meet in the lobby” and “take a charter van to the studio”, we decided to bite the bullet and stay there (note: off-resort hotels were definitely cheaper).
