NFL stadiums are all unique, so the seat counts vary. Most have seating capacities of 70,000 to 100,000 people. NFL stadium design is more focused on luxury/quality of experience than packing the highest quantities of fans in. The newer NFL stadiums are often enclosed, include sports bars that span entire end zones, and have much larger minimum seat footprints than college football stadiums. The 100k+ capacity college football stadiums all have substantial amounts of bench seating, which is not an option that’s considered in newer NFL stadiums. People talk about how the Super Bowl will never again be hosted at the Rose Bowl because it’s not nice enough, which I find insane but is a sign of the level of luxury desired by the NFL. You can’t optimize for both luxury and capacity at the same time.
