The liberal view runs the gamut from acceptance/tolerance of the traditional view to rejecting the traditional view entirely. I don’t think being male is wrong at all, and I certainly don’t think being traditionally masculine is a sin. But if you want to shame me into conforming to the stereotype, you’ll be wasting your time. In any case, I’m proud to say I do know the difference between yellow-green and green-yellow, between turquoise and aquamarine, and between purple and violet. In my experience? Usually very insecure men. There’s a guy I always think of when I hear a man refer to himself as an “alpha”, a guy one of my best friends dated when we were in our 20’s. He had numerous guns hanging on the walls of his house, drove a massive, loud pickup truck, had a huge Rottweiler he had had trained as an attack dog for no specific reason other than that the dog intimidated people (if the dog didn’t know you well he had to be in a crate when you came into the house “just to be safe”), had traveled to Alaska so he could kill a brown bear and put its skin up on his wall (oh, how proud he was of that bearskin). All I could think of when I looked at this guy was, “just how small can it be, dude?” Because clearly this was a man who was overcompensating for something, exaggerating his masculinity to a pathological degree.
