The only real issue I know of is that some people are sensitive to the adhesive used in some patches and can develop an itchy rash from them. I had that problem, but after trying patches made by three or four different companies found one that does not seem to irritate my skin. The patches used to be very expensive, but now using GoodRx I’m able to find them at extremely good prices, even cheaper than when I had excellent medical insurance. Now I find the cheapest price on GoodRx and just pay for them myself, it’s cheaper for me that way. My GYN put me on the patches when I transitioned to female because of the lower risk of heart and stroke complications at my age, which was 55 at that time. Except for occasional itchy rash under the patch, I’m quite happy with them. Pro tip: if you go with transdermal skin patches, I suggest that when you buy a box of them, remove all the patches from the box and write the date on each one of them the patch should be applied.
