But in general, there are more options to consume NFL games, legal and illegal, in 2017 than there were even 10 years ago. Viewing highlights and content through social media is one form of consumption, but it doesn’t directly help TV ratings. The interest in the league may be just as high, but it’s not resonating with advertisers and TV ratings. If you’re watching it from home, it’ll be on the CBS channel which should be provided on your satellite tv channels, so you don’t have to pay extra to watch it from home. If the NFL tried to buy the Argonauts (which would be really hard since the NFL itself, not the 32 franchises, has very little money) the Canadian Government would block the sale like the government basically did to prevent a WFL franchise from being founded (moving the Toronto Northmen to the Memphis Southmen in 1974 before league play).
