Between 2016 and 2020 I must have seen 1000 questions asking if Hillary was going to run again in 2020. My answer was always the same. “There is not a bigger favor Democrats could do for Republicans than nominate Hillary again. I fully expect to see this question even more often, because unlike Hillary who never talked about running again after her loss, Trump has hinted that he will. There is not a bigger favor Republicans could do for Democrats in 2024 than to nominate Donald Trump again. If there were such a punishment, a great many legislators and a significant fraction of the population would be locked up by now. In fact, some people make a living from insulting the President. That’s pretty much all AM radio is good for. The First Amendment shields Americans from being imprisoned for unpopular political speech. If I were told by the current Administration that the sky was blue, I would probably feel an urge to go outside and check for myself. I would in no way, shape or form take the current administration’s word when it came to performing an act that in normal times gets a body arrested at best and shot by the Secret Service at worst. If you had one chance and you were told by the White House that nothing would happen to you at all, would you slap the current president of the United States in the face?
